  • Engine Simulation on AVL Cruise M

    Modelled Ricardo's Hydra single-cylinder research engine and Honda’s K20 series four-cylinder engine using AVL CRUISE M software.

    Enhanced the performance of an inline 6-cylinder turbocharged GDI engine with an octane rating below 95, achieving a 6% reduction in Brake Specific Fuel Consumption (BSFC) and meeting Euro 7 emission standards and safety regulations.

    Conducted benchmarking of the inline 6-cylinder turbocharged GDI engine against BMW’s B58 engine for comparative analysis.

  • Modern Adaptative Cruise control

    Designed a modern adaptive cruise control system with real-time adjustments for varying road conditions and traffic scenarios, and analysed stability and robustness of control systems through Bode plots and Nyquist criteria.

    Formulated feedback control algorithms to meet specified performance requirements using frequency-domain 'loop-shaping' methods and PID techniques using MATLAB and Simulink softwares.

    Built Simulink models and simulations of multi-domain automotive systems suitable for performance analysis and control system design.

  • Vehicle design, propulsion & performance

    Developed a comprehensive vehicle specification for the Mercedes-Benz Actros Lorry, focusing on optimising the design for both the most and least powerful variants.

    Analysed and evaluated major vehicle systems, including the powertrain, braking, and suspension systems, while considering Euro 6 emission standards and safety regulations.

    Executed performance simulations, calculating key metrics such as maximum speed, gradeability, and fuel consumption using a combination of manufacturer data and independent assessments.

Even before the shift to electric vehicles, the world has come to realize that drastically reducing exhaust emissions, due to European and international regulatory pressures, does not resolve all environmental and pollution concerns related to automobiles. Non-exhaust emissions now account for about 80% of particle emissions from vehicle usage, according to a statement by UNECE, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe.

Each time a driver presses their vehicle's brake pedal, the friction between the disc and brake pads generates abrasion, which releases fine particles into the air. This is also true for trains and subways. In fact, it is widely acknowledged that the subway is one of the most polluted places in Paris.

Novares Group, in collaboration with L’École Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Métiers, has developed an innovative concept and technical solutions aimed at capturing particles from tires and brake pads in automobiles, providing an effective response to this critical environmental challenge.
